Photography

Photography is amazing. there are many different ways to embrace photography in our modern age. It is an exciting time to be a photographer, Whether to shoot digital or analog photography. ( maybe both)

Digital Photography is the use of cameras that contain an image sensor in stead of traditional film to capture images. The captured images are digital computer files. Analog Photography uses traditional film cameras that need the additional of film with light sensitive emulsions to capture images. The film emulsion is a thin layer of silver halides that record the light. The film must undergo a chemical photo process to make the image visible and ensure the image is no longer light sensitive.

I love photography. It has been part of my life since a class in high school. I took Industrial Arts and photography was part of that class. We only had point and shoot film cameras to work with, but we had a traditional darkroom for printing. I will never forget the thrill I felt when my first photo appeared like magic on the paper. I was hooked. I continued on from high school to post secondary and earned a diploma of Applied Photography from SIAST ( now Sask Polytechnic).

I use photography in so many ways in my whole artistic process. I add my photographs into my collage works. I document my paintings using my copywork skills. I use my various cameras and lights to shoot for myself and others. I use my photography to photograph references fir my paintings. I do varied lomography processes; polaroid, hand printing cyanotypes and image transfers. My digital processes have allowed me to become computer savvy. I retouch and organize my photos.

I LOVE photography.
